What’s in Simple Blender Salsa

This salsa is so delicious! My husband swears its better than any restaurant salsa. Nothing makes my heart happier than bringing my family joy through something I prepare them in the kitchen. Therefore, I love making this salsa to go along with our taco or nacho nights!

The backbone of this salsa is whole canned tomatoes and a blender. I’ve started canning whole tomatoes from our garden for this sole purpose! You’ll want a 28oz can if you’re buying them. The next item that I add to this salsa is a can of diced tomatoes and green chilis. Any Rotel type mix will do! If I don’t have these on hand, sometimes I’ll just toss in a can of diced green chilis in its place.

Now to season up the tomato-ness of this concoction so far! I throw in about half of a red onion, roughly chopped, 1tbsp of fresh lime juice, 1tsp garlic salt, 1/4 tsp cumin, 1 small handful of fresh cilantro (or a tsp of dried), and 1-2 jalapenos (fresh or canned) to taste.

Any of these flavors can be adjusted to your liking! More cumin, more jalapenos, or more chilis! Anything goes. This is just our favorite combo!

Blender salsa ingredients about to be processed in a blender

Once all the ingredients are in the blender, process them for a minutes or so until its all smooth! We like this specific salsa to be pretty smooth and thin like what would be served at a true Mexican restaurant. However, you could pulse this and leave it a little chunkier! You could also drain the liquid from the tomatoes before pouring into the blender and this would create a bit of a thicker mix.

Once it’s blended to your liking, it’s ready to serve! It keeps well in the fridge for 5-7 days. We love to make this for a snack when we have company or to take to a carry in!

I’ll definitely need to be canning more whole tomatoes this summer to account for our blender salsa needs this year!

Thanks for spending some time at our Crowded Table! I hope you and your family enjoy this Simple Blender Salsa as much as we do.

If you do, I’d love it if you’d leave a comment and tell me how it went over at your table!
